Terms & Privacy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Castle is the tournament and training platform of Keshmat Chess Center, a Lebanese non-profit association. By creating an account or registering a player, you agree to these terms.

Terms

Accounts and registering others

  • Give accurate information for yourself and for anyone you register.
  • If you register a child or another person, you confirm you are their parent or guardian, or are allowed to register them.
  • Keep your login to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.

Tournaments and payments

  • Each tournament page sets its entry fee, payment method, deadline and refund rules. Where a tournament says fees are non-refundable, they are.
  • Payment receipts you upload must be genuine. Organizers may reject a payment or registration that can't be verified.
  • FIDE and Lebanese Chess Federation rules apply, together with each tournament's code of conduct. Organizers and arbiters may penalize or remove players who don't follow them.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use Castle after a change means you accept it.

Privacy

What we collect

  • About you: name, phone number (for WhatsApp/SMS contact and, later, login), and optionally an email address.
  • About players: name, FIDE ID and rating, federation, and for players without a FIDE profile, date of birth and sex (FIDE requires these to register new players in rated events).
  • Tournament activity: registrations, pairings, results and payment records, including receipt images you upload.

Why we use it

  • To run tournaments and training: registration, pairings, results and contacting you about them.
  • To verify payments and issue official receipts.
  • To report rated tournaments to FIDE and the Lebanese Chess Federation.

We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who can see it

  • Public: player names, titles, federations, ratings, pairings and results appear on tournament pages and may be published on chess-results.com, as is standard for chess events. Dates of birth, phone numbers, emails and receipts are never shown publicly.
  • Organizers of a tournament see the registrations, contact details and payments for that tournament.
  • FIDE and the Lebanese Chess Federation receive the details needed for rated tournaments.
  • Service providers who run Castle for us: hosting (Render), email (Resend), file storage (Amazon Web Services) and text messages (Twilio). They process data only to provide their service.

Children

Children are registered by a parent, guardian, coach or school. We collect only what tournaments and training need, and children's dates of birth are never published. A parent or guardian can ask us to correct or delete a child's information at any time.

How long we keep it

  • Account and player details: while the account is in use. Ask us and we'll delete them.
  • Tournament results: kept as part of the tournament's historical record.
  • Payment records and official receipts: kept as long as our accounting obligations require.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or a child's data you registered. We handle personal data in line with Lebanese law (Law No. 81 of 2018 on electronic transactions and personal data).

Contact

Contact the organizers listed on any tournament page, or Keshmat Chess Center directly, for any question or request about these terms or your data.
